You might be wondering, "Who’s this Kala I’ve been hearing so much about?" Well, first of all, Kala is a mattress engineered for high-performance sleep. But let's dive right into the details.

Now that you're on board with Kala, let’s talk about pronunciation.

Kala like “California.” Kala like “Calla lilies.” Kala like “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”

Kah-lah like “Call a doctor!”

Kay-lah like “Hi, my name is Kayla.”

RIGHT WAY: Kala like “California.” Kala like “Calla lilies.” Kala like “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”

So, Kala like California. Why Kala, then?

Did you know that in many ancient cultures, the night is personified as female?  For example, Kala is a derivative of Kali, a fierce female goddess in Hindu mythology who – in addition to being a genuine badass in the fight against evil – is often portrayed as a “Divine Mother” or “Mother of the Universe” figure.  She’s a powerful protector, associated with darkness; with liberation and release; and with the cyclical nature of time and life.

As a company, we’re built on the idea that the night is a time for recovery, for rest and release – but also a time inextricably linked to day, to the rest of your life and everything you do. It’s all connected: and we’re convinced that really seizing your dreams is all about that boost, that extra power, that deep, mysterious oblivion that makes every bit of difference the next day.  That’s what Kala’s about – and what we want to give to you.
